Getting started

  1. Follow Discord's guide to install the app and create an account.

  2. Click the link in your membership to join the San Diego Sirens Supporters Group server

    All official messages will show up here.

  • #general-chat - Main chat channel for chat. All members can read and post here.

Notification options 

Limit notifications (recommended) 

Set notifications to Only @mentions to only get notified when you are tagged or a major announcement is sent by the Sirens’ Board.

You can still read all messages when you log into the app or site, but your phone won’t make a sound notification for each new message in the server

Mute the server

If you are busy, temporarily mute all notifications from the server using the Mute Server option.

Mute a specific channel

If a certain topic doesn’t interest you, you can mute that channel. You can still visit that channel whenever you want.

  1. Click the channel name

  2. Click the people icon in the upper right

  3. Click Notifications

  4. Choose Mute this channel

  5. Choose Until I turn it back on

Sirens Discord Code of Conduct

  1. Age Requirement:

    • Users must be over the age of 18 to join and participate in this server. 

  2. Communication Practices:

    •  Engage in productive and constructive discussion(s). Assume positive intent in all messages and ask for clarification or rephrasing if something feels off. 

    • Don’t respond while you’re angry. Exercise restraint in your responses, avoid impulsive or heated reactions. 

    • Disagreements are natural, but handle them respectfully and considerately.

    • Debates and opinion sharing are encouraged, but should not escalate to the level of personal attacks.

  3. Content Guidelines:

    • Keep conversations about trending news meaningful and on-topic.

    • Share content relevant to women’s soccer and the community’s interests as dictated by varying channel names.

    • Ensure that images, links, or discussions are appropriate and align with the group’s values. Pornography, nudity, bodily fluids, genitalia, sexual acts, excessive gore or otherwise shocking content is not allowed on this server.

  4. Privacy, Consent, and Speculation:

    • Respect the privacy of fellow members. Do not share personal information without explicit consent.

    • Do not share private, personal information about players. Do not speculate on players’ personal lives, relationships, or living arrangements. 

    • Information shared in this server is not to be shared outside of this server without the explicit consent of the author and/or the Sirens PR Representative. This includes the use of quotes or information for media purposes. 

  5. Unacceptable Online Behavior:

    • Harassment in any form, including but not limited to unwanted and/or excessive messages, intimidation, or stalking, will not be tolerated.

    • Hate speech, discrimination, derogatory slurs, bullying, name-calling of any kind, and personal attacks will not be tolerated.

    • Avoid disruptive behavior such as trolling or spamming. - This can include posting the same text, using capslock, posting walls of text, posting 4-5 images consecutively.

    • Do not impersonate other users, community members, or any individuals within or outside of the group. - Respect the identity and integrity of others, and avoid creating confusion or misrepresentation.

  6. Moderation Team:

    • Follow instructions from the moderation team. They are here to maintain a positive environment for everyone.

  7. Reporting Incidents:

    • If you encounter any violations of this code of conduct, promptly report them to the moderation team. Do not take matters into your own hands by engaging further. Instead, explain the situation to a moderator via a private message and allow them to intervene as it is appropriate. 

By joining and participating in this community, you agree to abide by these guidelines. Failure to do so may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the community.
